Nico & Family Portraits

What a wonderful portrait session to end the season with! I had so much fun working with this little guy. Nico is 11 months old and is such a happy baby! He is just a natural in front of the camera, and so quick to smile to show off those two front teeth. His mother, Mia, has a background in acting/modeling and contacted me about getting some shots for Nico’s comp card so we decided to turn their apartment into a studio. We did a little furniture rearrangement in order to get the right shots.  Not only am I a photographer but I also have a background in scenic design.  A dangerous combination.  But don’t worry, I helped move everything back afterwards.

Have a wonderful holiday Nico, Mia, and Tony!

Sara & Stephen Holiday Engagement

I can’t tell you how much fun I had working with Sara and Stephen on their holiday engagement session.  When Sara approached me about taking some pictures in and around Bryant Park, she suggested we meet at noon.  Because I’m always thinking ahead and am always up for a challenge, I recommended we meet at 3:30 which would give us just a few moments of daylight before sunset, at which time we would be able to see Bryant Park and New York City in all it’s twinkling holiday glory.

This was my first experience shooting an engagement session in the dark, in the cold, bumping elbows with a couple hundred of our fellow New York Holiday shoppers.  It really put my skills to the test but spending time with such a fun couple was well worth it.  Sara had done her homework beforehand and had come up with some great ideas for poses she wanted and I was thrilled to help try them out.  One of her suggestions involved heading into the NY Public Library.  We moved as quietly as possible and were only given a few dirty looks by the librarians.  As I am the son of a librarian I wasn’t sure my mother would have approved, but if you are going to break some rules, there are few places more beautiful than the inside of the NY Public Library so hopefully I’ll be forgiven.

Sara and Stephen, thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with you in one of my favorite parks in the city at one of my favorite times of the year.  Have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year and best of luck on your wedding plans!

Sara & Steve Engagement Preview

I wanted to share a few shots from my Holiday Engagement session with Sara and Steve last night in Bryant Park, NYC.  We started in the NY Public library and ended up in Times Square, and taking each shot was even more fun than the last with these two.  I am still on a high from our session and my fingers should be thawing shortly.  More pictures to come soon!
