When Cheryl contacted me to photograph her wedding, she said, “By the way, I live around the corner from you!” I can’t believe how many of my clients find me on the internet just to realize we’re neighbors! Well, Cheryl and Greg are two of the nicest neighbors one could ever hope for. Their wedding was at the Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk, NY which is about an hour drive north of the city. This was a beautiful area with lots of trees and hilly fairways, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer.
It was a beautiful wedding and reception. And these two can really dance! If I ever lost track of the bride and groom, I knew I could probably find them on the dance floor, showing us all how it’s done! By the end of the evening, we got some great pictures. A great family, good friends, and a very photogenic couple! Typically I make a folder of my 80-90 favorites from the wedding as something to build the slide show off of. The last time I checked, I had over 180 pictures in that folder, and it’s still growing!
Cheryl and Greg, I hope you had a great time on your honeymoon! Congratulations again!

My friend Andreea called the other day and asked what I was up to. I said I was working on updating my website. She said, “You are always updating your website!” It’s true! I just can’t stop revising and adjusting!
Well, I can say I’m finally finished…for a little while! After much tweaking, I have a brand new “weddings and portraits” site to show off my latest images. If you haven’t done so yet, click here and take a look! The address is still the same, but now the images are bigger, the buttons are cleaner, and hopefully the whole site is a little easier to use. What do you think?
Thank you so much for the feedback everyone has given me so far. It was much appreciated! I am currently working on the images from Cheryl and Greg’s wedding I photographed last weekend so stay tuned!

A lazy summer Sunday. Some people watch movies…I play with photoshop!
These were grapes from my Aunt and Uncle’s back yard that I photographed over the Fourth of July weekend. My family probably thought I had gone crazy from heatstroke because I was out there in the back yard photographing plants while on my back with a camera! Oh, well. The things I’ll do for my art.
Hope everyone’s staying cool and enjoying their summer!

When I first met Pei-Chen and James, I could tell right away that they were a perfect match for one another. Pei-Chen’s family is from in Taiwan and James’ family is from Iowa, worlds apart, but somehow they found each other here in New York, and they are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. James proposed to Pei-Chen on a bench in the Clinton Community Garden, which is a tiny little gated garden on 48th St. between 9th and 10th Avenues, and so they decided to have the wedding there. And it was a perfect spot for a wedding. It was like their own little private garden in midtown! Only if you are a resident of the area can you obtain a key to the space. They had an intimate ceremony surrounded by friends and family who then joined them at a reception at the Chimichurri Grill, a few blocks away.
Feel free to take a look at the slide show of their day here.
Congratulations Pei-Chen and James! I wish you all the happiness in your new life together!

Last Sunday, my fiance, Ashley, #1214, competed in her first triathlon, and I was up bright and early to show my support. 4am to be exact! The New York City Triathlon had 3,000 participants plus one Ashley Delegal. She has been training since March with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, a group which raises money for cancer research, and was able to reach her goal of raising $2,600. I blogged about one of her fundraisers at Jake’s Dilemma here.
This was my first time watching the race and I gotta say, it was quite an amazing thing to see. The first picture below was just a section of the women’s transition area with a view of New Jersey in the background. The participants went from here to their group’s start on a barge in the Hudson. After swimming one mile, they came here to grab their bikes for a 25 mile ride up and down the Hudson Parkway before the 6.2 mile run through Central Park. There was a crowd of New Yorkers cheering them on every step of the way.
I’m so proud of Ashley and everyone else who participated! Finishing this race is quite an accomplishment!

Ever wonder if you can swim in the Hudson? Here’s the proof that you can. Although I don’t know that many of the participants would recommend it!

Yep that was me. The photographer/fiance/cheerleader!

This was Ashley close to the finish line. After the race, I text-ed family and friends to let everyone know she finished. I said, I don’t know how she did with her time, but she came across the finish line smiling and I think that says a lot!

If you are following my blog posts, you’ll notice all of my cousins are keeping me busy…and I couldn’t be happier! My cousin Nathan with his wife Kathy have an 8 month old, Kaleb. This was the first time I’ve been able to make it out to their house to meet him, and I’m so glad I did! This guy was so well behaved I couldn’t believe it! Just the sweetest little boy you’ve ever seen.
Congratulations Nathan and Kathy! I can’t wait to see you guys again!
Thanks to Ashley for a few of these pictures. She’s going to have to get her own photo blog soon!

Kaleb already has quite a collection of souvenir bats that his father picks up for him while on the road for work.

Two teeth!

One of the hazards of photographing on the floor. No one’s safe from that tongue!

What a good looking family!

My cousin, Tessa, just had her baby, Ethan, and I’m so excited to have met him! He is so cute! Welcome to the family Ethan!
He is quite a handful for Tessa and Luke right now but you could tell they couldn’t be prouder. I think they are going to be great parents to this little guy. He didn’t really like being photographed. Hopefully he doesn’t hold it against me because I did bring him an “I heart NY” onesie as a birthday present!
Congratulations again Tessa and Luke! I’m looking forward to seeing you guys again soon!

When I heard Haley, my youngest cousin, got engaged, I couldn’t wait to head out to Lincoln, Nebraska and take some pictures! I also had a great time getting to know Josh a bit better. I can now say I totally approve and I couldn’t be happier for you two! Congratulations!
The weather in Lincoln couldn’t have been more beautiful! We started out at the Sunken Gardens and then made our way to the Haymarket District, down town. I attended Nebraska Wesleyan University back in the day but I haven’t been back to Lincoln for a while. The city is just as beautiful as I remember it! A big thanks to Ashley for helping out and taking some fabulous pictures as well!

What’s more fun than having a drink with your friends at the bar? Knowing that your money is going towards a great cause like finding a cure for cancer! Ashley Delegal, my fiance, has been training for the New York City Triathlon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, a group which raises money for cancer research while helping it’s members cross the finish line at one of the biggest races in New York! I can’t tell you how proud of her I am! You can read about her progress here and donate to help her reach her goal if you like: http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/nyctri09/adelegal
She needs to raise $2,600 by race day and is so close to her goal but not quite there, so she decided to take it upon herself to throw a fundraiser at Jake’s Dilemma on the upper east side. Buying a ticket at the door got you drinks at the bar for the evening and entered into a raffle. I thought I would do my part by recording the event but also offered, to the winning ticket holder, a free photography session! The other two winners received an original piece of artwork by Anna Hewett and a pair of tickets to Broadway’s Hair! Thanks to everyone who came out!

I had the pleasure of finally meeting Zoe this weekend! I still can’t get over how wonderful she is! I’ve been friends with her mom, Traci for a few years now and was so excited when I heard that she and her husband, Pierre, had a baby girl! Zoe is almost one year old and she’s just as cute as ever. They live in a great apartment in Brooklyn and I couldn’t be happier for them with such a wonderful baby! Traci, you can call me anytime to babysit!
