Ryan Trupp Photography | The Blog bio picture

A little bit about me: in list form

I was born in Nebraska and yes we had indoor plumbing
I’ve lived in Colorado, Iowa, Chicago, Ohio, Cape Cod, Manhattan, & Queens
I am both a city boy and a nature boy
I recently married the love of my life
We got married in a barn…no really!
If I’m on the computer I probably have my dog, Ruby, in my lap
I have a strong theatre design background and love all things visual
I have a rusty old bike from 1976 and riding it makes me happy

That’s me in 8 lines or less.  Photography has been a great way for me to meet some truly amazing people. I have a lot of fun with what I do and with the people I meet. Everyone has a different story to tell which makes every day an adventure.

It's my goal to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible and to make their time, be it a wedding day, headshots, or a theatrical event, as stress free as I can...and capture beautiful pictures along the way.

I carry both equipment and liability insurance and am a proud member of Professional Photographers of America and Pictage.

Adrienne & Sandy’s Engagement

As luck would have it, 3 employees of Ryan Trupp Photography are getting married in 2010:  Myself, my fiance Ashley, and one of my best assistants Adrienne.  And I’m lucky enough to have the pleasure of photographing 1 out of 2 of those weddings!  (Bonus points if you can guess which one I’m not photographing!)

I was totally thrilled to be asked to be a part of Adrienne and Sandy’s wedding next month!  Stay tuned for pictures because it sounds like the wedding is going to be fabulous!  We decided to do an engagement shoot in Adrienne and Sandy’s neighborhood down in the East Village, complete with roof-top shots from the top of their apartment.  We had so much fun!

Feel free to check out the slideshow here.

We’re off to get married, literally!  Next time I see you, Adrienne and Sandy, I’ll be a married man!  -Cheers!

Preview of Jen and Alex’s engagement

What happens when you combine great weather, New York’s High Line Park, and a beautiful couple?  See for yourself.

I had a great time with you guys today!  More pictures to come.  Stay tuned and have a Happy Easter!

Haley & Josh’s Engagement

When I heard Haley, my youngest cousin, got engaged, I couldn’t wait to head out to Lincoln, Nebraska and take some pictures! I also had a great time getting to know Josh a bit better. I can now say I totally approve and I couldn’t be happier for you two! Congratulations!

The weather in Lincoln couldn’t have been more beautiful!  We started out at the Sunken Gardens and then made our way to the Haymarket District, down town.  I attended Nebraska Wesleyan University back in the day but I haven’t been back to Lincoln for a while.  The city is just as beautiful as I remember it!  A big thanks to Ashley for helping out and taking some fabulous pictures as well!

Wedding Guest Book

When Angela and Andrew contacted me to photograph their engagement session, with pictures that can be seen here, they had expressed interest in incorporating their pictures into a wedding guest book. I had an example of a book from a company that I wasn’t quite sold on so I mentioned this would be a perfect opportunity for me to try a different book company. I’m glad I switched because I’m very happy with this book! I am now offering this 11.25″ x 8.75″ book to my engagement couples as just another great and affordable way to personalize their day! The book cover comes in a number of different colors and the option to be bound in either canvas or leather.  If interested, contact me for prices!

Angela & Andrew’s Slideshow

Here is a slide show I put together for Angela and Andrew’s Engagement session in Central Park. We had a great time and I think the music suits them well. They are two of the nicest people, and we happen to be neighbors in Queens!

After a long winter, spring is finally here! Enjoy!

Angela and Andrew’s Engagement

Angela and Andrew, neighbors of ours in Astoria,  contacted me to take some engagement shots with them.  They already have a photographer lined up for their wedding in September, but they wanted some experience in front of the camera before their big day.  We headed to Central Park yesterday and, being as it was the first warm day for New York this year, we joined what seemed like the rest of the city for an afternoon at the park!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so packed with people.  The funny thing is, you wouldn’t know it by looking at our pictures.  Angela and Andrew took it in stride and seemed to be so in love with each other they didn’t even notice.  They also mentioned that they don’t take  good pictures,  but clearly they were trying to trick me because there’s not a bad one in the bunch.

Congratulations on your engagement Angela and Andrew!  I wish you the best of luck at your wedding!

As seen in the Times!

A couple who contacted me to photograph their engagement session was listed in today’s New York Times!  Rian and Russell had contacted me back in January about shooting an engagement session in Central Park and had submitted a picture from that session to the Weddings and Celebrations section and it was published today.  You can see the announcement here:  http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/22/fashion/weddings/22Balfour.html?_r=1&ref=weddings

I just got back today from photographing their wedding in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  It was a beautiful wedding and I’ll be sharing pictures soon.

Congratulations Rian and Russell!

Natalie & Eric’s Engagement Session

While I was putting together my updated blog layout, I started going through some older engagement sessions.  This was an engagement session with two very good friends of mine, Natalie and Eric.  Did they ask me for a session or did I talk them into it?  I don’t remember, but we had a great time anyway!  They are getting married this July in Pennsylvania and have asked me to be in the wedding party!  I can’t wait!

We decided to take pictures in the DUMBO area of Brooklyn to get the NY skyline in the background.  Eric is a published photographer himself and does some amazing work with pinhole and Polaroid cameras so you will notice I photographed some black and white film shots with my Holga for the occasion.
