A little bit about me: in list form

I was born in Nebraska and yes we had indoor plumbing
I’ve lived in Colorado, Iowa, Chicago, Ohio, Cape Cod, Manhattan, & Queens
I am both a city boy and a nature boy
I recently married the love of my life
We got married in a barn…no really!
If I’m on the computer I probably have my dog, Ruby, in my lap
I have a strong theatre design background and love all things visual

Katherine & Eric’s Wedding Previews

This Thanksgiving has been a win win for me.  I was able to come home to visit my family out here in Gering, Nebraska for a little turkey and stuffing, and I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph Katherine and Eric’s wedding to boot!  I keep telling people: Have camera, will travel, and this time Katherine and Eric took me up on it!

Here are a few previews from last night’s wedding.  The reception was at the Gering Civic Center but I couldn’t pass up getting some pictures of these two in front of the Gering Fire Department which was across the street.  You could say their love for each other was on fire; A hunk-a hunk-a burning love; These two had a smoldering passion that couldn’t be quenched…you get the idea!  However you put it, Katherine and Eric clearly have a lot of fun together and are blessed with a wonderful family and had a beautiful wedding.  Congratulations Katherine and Eric!  May the fire of your love forever burn!  Ha!

Christele & Michael

I have met some of the most interesting and generous people through my photography.  I would have to say it’s by far the most exciting part of my job.  Every wedding is an opportunity to meet more and more wonderful people.  Which brings me to Michael and Christele.  Michael grew up here in New York while Christele is originally from France.  They both now live in San Francisco.  If they were able to find each other after growing up half a world away than surely they have something very special.  I think they just won the award for having the most diverse list of wedding guests I’ve seen so far!

When Ashley and myself started taking pictures of Michael getting ready he mentioned, in his delightfully casual manner, that he would meet us later on the beach for the wedding. His plan was to ride his bike through the woods and grab a bouquet of flowers and present them to Christele as a surprise during the ceremony.  It wasn’t until I heard him repeat his plan to his family numerous times that I began to take him seriously.  He actually did just that.  He hopped on his bike in his 3 piece suit and he met us at the beach!  This set the tone for a beautiful and delightfully unique wedding complete with a great view of the bay and fireworks on the beach.

Ashley and I decided we want to hire Michael and Christele’s I-pod as the DJ for our wedding by the way.

Take care Michael and Christele!  And congratulations!

Preview of Christele & Michael’s Wedding

We were asked to photograph Christele and Michael’s wedding on a beach in Huntington Bay last night.  The wedding was unbelievable.  For once, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Jill and Brian in Brooklyn

Jill and Brian got just about everything you could wish for in a wedding: close family, good friends, good food, and all of it set against a perfect view of the Manhattan skyline and the Williamsburg bridge in the background.  The wedding and reception were at Giando On The Water in Williamsburg, Brooklyn which was right at the edge of the East River.  The weather was perfect despite a little bit of rain off and on.  It  just gave us an excuse to get some pictures with an umbrella!

These two had a great time and we have pictures to prove it.  Congratulations again Jill and Brian.  I wish you all the best in the years to come!

Jill & Brian Wedding Preview

I had the pleasure of photographing Jill and Brian’s wedding yesterday at Giando On The Water in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  We had a little rain throughout the day but it wasn’t enough to get in the way of the great time these two had with their closest friends and family!  I wanted to post a little preview before they leave on their honeymoon tomorrow.  Why is it that my clients get to go on all these fabulous honeymoons and not once has someone invited me to come along?!?  I don’t take up that much room!  Well, enjoy your time out of the country Jill and Brian.  Congratulations again on a beautiful wedding!

Someone wrote this into the sign-in book.  I thought it summed up these two perfectly!

Cheryl & Greg’s Wedding

When Cheryl contacted me to photograph her wedding, she said, “By the way, I live around the corner from you!”  I can’t believe how many of my clients find me on the internet just to realize we’re neighbors!  Well, Cheryl and Greg are two of the nicest neighbors one could ever hope for.  Their wedding was at the Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk, NY which is about an hour drive north of the city.  This was a beautiful area with lots of trees and hilly fairways, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer.

It was a beautiful wedding and reception.  And these two can really dance!  If I ever lost track of the bride and groom, I knew I could probably find them on the dance floor, showing us all how it’s done!  By the end of the evening, we got some great pictures.  A great family, good friends, and a very photogenic couple!  Typically I make a folder of my 80-90 favorites from the wedding as something to build the slide show off of.  The last time I checked, I had over 180 pictures in that folder, and it’s still growing!

Cheryl and Greg, I hope you had a great time on your honeymoon!  Congratulations again!

Pei-Chen & James’ Wedding

When I first met Pei-Chen and James, I could tell right away that they were a perfect match for one another.  Pei-Chen’s family is from in Taiwan and James’ family is from Iowa, worlds apart, but somehow they found each other here in New York, and they are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.  James proposed to Pei-Chen on a bench in the Clinton Community Garden, which is a tiny little gated garden on 48th St. between 9th and 10th Avenues, and so they decided to have the wedding there.  And it was a perfect spot for a wedding.  It was like their own little private garden in midtown!  Only if you are a resident of the area can you obtain a key to the space.  They had an intimate ceremony surrounded by friends and family who then joined them at a reception at the Chimichurri Grill, a few blocks away.

Feel free to take a look at the slide show of their day here.

Congratulations Pei-Chen and James!  I wish you all the happiness in your new life together!

Sarah and Mark’s Wedding

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing Sarah and Mark’s Wedding at the Conservatory Garden in Central Park.  After a week of rain, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.  Perfect weather for a perfect wedding!  If you’ve never ventured all the way up to the North Eastern corner of Central Park, I highly recommend it.  It’s a beautiful area and was totally ideal as a wedding location!

Sarah and Mark both work on props for the theatre and were so much fun to work with.  They had mentioned early on that they wanted to take the subway from the park to the reception at the Jazz Standard and wondered if I would be up to taking some pictures along the way.  I said you betcha!  I’m always up for anything!  I think the other people on the subway also had a good time.  They kept asking the bride and groom for pictures!

I put together a slide show of some of the highlights here: http://www.ryantrupp-photography.com/Slideshow/S+M_W/Slideshow.htm

The slide show is set to music by the band Swingadelic, which performed at the reception.  If I hadn’t been shooting the wedding, you can bet you wouldn’t have been able to pull me off that dance floor.  They sounded great!  (music used by permission)

Congratulations again Sarah and Mark!  Have fun on your Honeymoon!!!

Florida Wedding

Rian and Russell found me on Craigslist back in January to photograph an engagement session.  We had so much fun in that bitterly cold January session that they asked if I would be interested in flying down to Florida to photograph their wedding!  We had a great time!  This is a couple who is blessed with good friends, a great family, and had a beautiful wedding.

Forida was experiencing some spring showers on the wedding day so the ceremony was moved inside but we were still able to utilize some of the beautiful outside space for group photos.  I also had the pleasure of being asked to photograph the rehearsal dinner the night before.  The three of us grabbed some pictures on the beach as well.  The ceremony and reception was held at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Deerfield Beach, FL.

Feel free to click here for the slide show.  Congratulations again Rian and Russell!

Kelly & Geoff’s Slideshow

Kelly and Geoff, here’s a slide show I put together of your wedding.  These are some of my favorites from your day.  Again, I can’t tell you how much fun I had with you guys!  The day couldn’t have been more perfect!
