Ali & Garrett Wedding

We had such a great time working with Ali and Garrett and their wedding at Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church in Huntington Valley, PA.  Ali and Garrett come from different backgrounds and different geographic areas, but are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.  Garrett is a Presbyterian pastor in Ashland, KY and Ali is an Assistant Stage Manager on Broadway here in New York City.  At first glance you’d wonder, with two completely different backgrounds, how did these two find each other?  I can tell you, if you spend more than five minutes with these two, you would see they are both quick to laugh, super friendly, and they have this spark when they smile at each other which makes the room light up somehow.

The reception was at The Brookside Manor in Feasterville, PA which was the perfect place to end the evening.  It was a long drive back to NYC for us but we left happy.  Congratulations again Ali and Garrett.  Wishing you all the best in your new life together!

Change is Coming!

As a New York apartment dweller, I’ve found I’ve completely embraced my unobtrusive, documentary-style, wedding photographer lifestyle.  I pack light to my photo shoots: I ride the subway to some and my bike or rented zip cars to others; my office consists of my home studio for image adjustments on the computer and the corner Starbucks for client meetings.  I’m always at the ready, able to pick up my camera and go at a moments notice, just the way I like it.

The idea of packing light is a trait instilled upon me through many years as a boy scout leading 50 mile backpacking trips through the mountains of Wyoming in my youth.  “Pack out what you pack in” was my motto and never bring more than you need, or can carry.

This fall you’ll begin seeing a change in this motto with my business.  This change is not bad, it’s just different and it’s an exciting time for me and Ryan Trupp Photography.  I can assure you my approach will still be rooted in my “pack light” mentality but with this change you’ll be seeing me carrying around a bit more gear and I’ll have more tools in the toolbox to play with.

If I’m being a bit cryptic I apologize, but I don’t want to give away too much!  One thing I can mention is my decision this fall and winter to embrace the bridal show and I’m super excited about it!  A little nervous, maybe, but thrilled with the chance to meet more wonderful couples looking for someone to photograph their one of a kind weddings.  In preparing for bridal shows, I realized I need more display material.  One of the things I’ve found is this gallery wrap being offered by my image hosting site, Pictage.  I’m in love with the quality of this thing.  This is now available to all my clients who’ll see the gallery wrap as a print option.

So don’t worry, in the weeks and months to come you’ll still see me as “that guy with a camera ready for anything”.  I’ll just be ready for a little bit more.  I can’t wait!
